Welcome to the Ambler Whitpain Trojans CHEER!
The Ambler Whitpain Trojans are proud members of the Pop Warner Little Scholars and Bux-Mont organizations. Pop Warner is a nonprofit organization that provides youth football and cheer & dance programs for participants in 42 states and several countries around the world. Pop Warner Spirit teams have participated for several decades on the football sidelines (Pep Squads, Majorettes, etc.); however, cheerleading as we know it was officially introduced in the 1970’s. Today, thousands of youth participate in Pop Warner Cheerleading and Dance teams around the United States. The Cheer and Dance Program offers teams a wide range of opportunity for young athletes at all skill levels: Novice, Intermediate and Advanced.
The Ambler Whitpain Trojan sideline cheerleading in a non-competition cheer team and offers a great experience for kids who want to cheer for a team and have fun! Our focus is on fun and physical fitness as we develop skills that will allow many to continue cheering for years to come. Ambler Whitpain Cheer members will learn not only cheers, dance, tumbling and routines but also gain friendships and learn camaraderie with their teammates. Ambler Whitpain Cheer will begin the season cheering for our respective youth football teams. Most games are held on Saturday's (some Friday nights, and Sundays as well) and we do occasionally travel locally.
Our AWT family aims to create a positive environment where the kids can be themselves and have fun while learning teamwork, self-discipline, sportsmanship and perseverance, all while learning and perfecting their cheer skills.
During the season, our cheerleaders will cheer on the sideline for football games (usually 8-10 games), will cheer along side the WIss HS Cheer team during the Wissahickon Youth Night, and also learn a routine to perform and Showcase at the BuxMont Exhibition Competition (October).
Cheer team categories are based on the Pop Warner age guidelines and the cheerleader's age as of July 14th (new for 2026). The breakdown of possible cheer teams are as follows:
Non-Competitive Sideline Cheer Teams

Registration fees go to cover the costs of Uniforms, field/practice facility rentals, lights, insurance, national dues, league fees, equipment replacement and repair.
In addition, registration fees cover:
- Uniforms (except shoes, they will need to be purchased separately)
- MCE insurance coverage
- Indoor Practice location fees*

Spirit wear:
While not required, many of our cheerleaders enjoy the opportunity to purchase AWT Cheer warm-up jackets, backpack, and other spirit wear available throughout the season.
Expectations:
Since cheerleading is a team sport, the team only succeeds when everyone is in attendance. Therefore, attendance is expected at practices and games unless there is an approved absence (illness/pre-planned family event). Appropriate behavior, respect, and sportsmanship is expected at all times.
